Mike Malott knocked out Joaquin Buckley with a knee in round two of the UFC Edmonton main event on Saturday, his fifth straight win. MMA Fighting described a close first round, then a second in which Malott clinched Buckley against the fence and landed the knee as the two separated; Buckley was out cold and his mouthpiece came out. Malott (now 15-2-1) said he wants a top-10 opponent, "maybe top-five." Buckley has lost three in a row. UFC.com named Malott one of four Performance of the Night winners, each worth an extra $100,000. The finish time was not in the sources we read.
Ivan Gnizditskiy, a 7-0 light heavyweight, is reported signed for a Dec. 5 debut at UFC Riyadh (Bloody Elbow, Oct. 16). Bo Nickal said his UFC 335 fight with Joe Pyfer has moved to a February main event in Cleveland; there is no UFC statement (MMA Fighting, Oct. 16). We found no confirmed change to UFC.com's standard rankings after Edmonton.
Jasmine Jasudavicius beat Erin Blanchfield by unanimous decision, 29-28 on all three scorecards, in the UFC Edmonton co-main event, MMA Fighting reported. Jasudavicius, the underdog, repeatedly took Blanchfield down and afterwards called for a rematch with new women's flyweight champion Natalia Silva.
The other Performance of the Night bonuses went to Mandel Nallo (second-round TKO of Nate Landwehr), Marc-Andre Barriault (first-round stoppage of Kyle Daukaus with a clinch knee) and Joel Faglier, who survived a first round in which Javad Mahjoub scored multiple knockdowns and won by second-round TKO in his UFC debut, UFC.com reported. UFC.com said the card tied UFC Serbia for the most finishes at a modern UFC event, 12. Cristian Perez knocked out Kyle Nelson 27 seconds into his debut, MMA Fighting reported. We did not find the Louis Jourdain vs. Timmy Cuamba result or the prelim results in sources we could read.
UFC 336 will be held at Scotiabank Arena in Toronto on Jan. 30, 2027, the promotion announced during the Edmonton broadcast, MMA Fighting and Bloody Elbow reported. No bouts have been announced. It will be the first UFC event in Toronto since January 2024.
Asked about Farid Basharat's exit after UFC Edmonton, Dana White said: "If you're 16-0, with seven wins in the UFC and don't get re-signed, there's definitely a reason." He said fighters are not re-signed when they are not good to deal with and matchmakers do not want to deal with them, and did not say which applied to Basharat, MMA Fighting and Bloody Elbow reported. Basharat said last week that his departure "clearly has nothing to do with my fighting capabilities."
Asked after the show whether UFC Saudi Arabia would be moved, White said: "I go to Abu Dhabi on Tuesday, I have like six events in the next 30 days, in Saudi, Qatar and Abu Dhabi," Bloody Elbow reported. He did not announce any change to the Dec. 5 card.
Adrian Yanez is out of his UFC 334 bantamweight fight with Juan Diaz on Nov. 14 at Madison Square Garden, per sources, MMA Fighting's Mike Heck wrote on X on Saturday, as quoted by Bloody Elbow. Diaz is expected to stay on the card; no replacement is named. Neither the UFC, Yanez nor Diaz had confirmed it when Bloody Elbow published, and we found no second outlet's own reporting. No reason has been given.
